Oscar is #1 cat, and is a rescued British Short Hair Cross. I got him in March 1999 (the weekend of the Oscar ceremony), when he was about 12-18 months old. He had been rescued after being tortured, he was found nailed through his feet; with a stab wound in his chest and what looked like an attempt to pierce his ears. He was treated for this before I adopted him; there were worries that there would be permanent disability; or at least some marking of his skin/fur. Happily he has made a full recovery. Because of his previous experiences, he was rehomed with me on the basis of being an 'indoor' cat. Since then I have moved to somewhere larger (and off road) and he has been 'upgraded' to an outdoors cat. He loves being an outdoor cat; and is better known around here than I am (Most conversations start with "You own a white cat?"). He will even lie on the footpath and roll over as strangers pass in an attempt to get stroked. | |
